Thanks! Some ignore it. Some dance or clap. Some yell at them because they are having bad days and don't want to listen to the music. It's fun to stumble onto things like that, that don't need the player to trigger events.
Having such an organic world is so important and so few devs focus on NPCs in this way!
Definitely. It's a complex system to build and test. So I get why most sidestep this. Although my game is an arcade-y adventure game, building a world that feels organic, alive, and non-player driven is important to the overall feel and replay value.
