Really worried about asset store tech debt. Considering deleting *.CS from my game's /Assets/ folder and hand-coding 100.0% of the game logic. This way, if there's a bug, I can be 100% sure it is my fault! I enjoy coding! I would *love* the confidence a problem came from me!

The only asset I use in my games is
@PhilippeStA's KCC because 1. it's good (I've made character controllers many times in the past and I got fed up wasting so much time solving issues) 2. I can nudge him personally if something is wrong :P Everything else I use I coded myself.1 Antwort 0 Retweets 3 Gefällt mir -
I've also worked on a project with a lot of plugin-assets and then fixing other people's code took like most of our time, and updating plugins and Unity versions became a profusely sweating situation. It really made very careful and extremely skeptical of plugins :D

story of my gamedev life! the vast majority of work on all my past projects is "integration woes" glue code and wiring up of things

This. I've not had much luck downloading plugins and being able to keep them in the game. I end up scrapping them and building my own version since it'll take less time and require no maintenance that may break things. Plugins often have a lot of things I don't actually need too.
