I was trying to help someone on @TheDesignDen discord to figure out how to do some proper roads for #leveldesign, so I made this video. It covers a lot of stuff not just roads. Please enjoy!https://youtu.be/k86YdRKdk-4

I’m also trying to solve similar problems. I’d love to get a professional
#leveldesign perspective of the sorts of features I could add to the 2D map editor in CityGen3D. Would you use this map editor feature and if not what I could do to make it better?https://youtu.be/g0Zww-OnNTw1 Antwort 1 Retweet 2 Gefällt mir -

This is awesome. I would definitely try to use it. Questions: - How easy can you modify and rebuild the map once you rebuilt it once? - Can you move individual assets once generated? - Does the street system support multiple lanes? - How does this work with terrain elevation?

Rebuilding 3D environment from map changes is very easy to do. It may take a little while for very large multi terrain environments but it’s all automated.

You can move individual prefabs as normal in 3D after generation, or make changes in 2D and regenerate 3D scene from the map.

You can create different road definitions with different numbers of land and edit the number of lanes in any road instance.

Roads are auto aligned to terrain and you have additional controls for road levelling.https://youtu.be/ZQx8aFmGtms

Thanks for your questions! I’m going to try and improve the 2D tools further as I love the idea of level designers being able draw out plans and then see them in 3D with minimal effort

Not shown in video but you can draw 2D buildings as well and have them generated in 3D (not just spawn prefabs like I did in demo).
