What's a creative way to handle the edge of a map without water, mountains, or invisible wall? I thought about having the map repeat, like it was a small globe, and you end up back on the other side...

I'll have to check that out again. You are right about the globe idea. It wouldn't be spherical. Just loop back around to the direct opposite side of the map. While you end up at the same town it still feels open. Not sure yet though.
