I've had several conversations with employees of YouTube recently, and the subject of bettering the platform comes up in each and every one of them. My one suggestion to them is to remove the dislike button.
I feel like we're talking in circles here. I believe the only reason to remove a dislike button is if you really don't feel confident in the material you're posting... Sort of takes away the possibility of learning the truth.

Plus, there are times when I personally don't care to opine bc it just isn't worth it, so I'll hit the dislike. Either way, my opinion is known.

Have you not seen what happens when any particular faction of the Internet decides to seriously hate on someone? That alone is a reason someone would want the dislike button gone. Social media and its emphasis on likes, dislikes, and such can get pretty unhealthy.
