My latest essay for , on getting a feeding tube, was one of the hardest I've ever written. I've never laid myself bare quite like this before. I'd be honored if you read it.

A reminder that... –suicide hotlines are not usually equipped to help Disabled folks who are suicidal. –Disabled folks are often encouraged or supported in our desire to kill ourselves (because nondisabled people often think, "who would want to be disabled?!" )

I told Dad my stomach wasn't feeling very happy, and a few minutes later he came over and taped a giant cutout circle with a happy face drawn on it to my belly. 😂😂😂

At least here in Canada, there is a city directory for non-profit and community resources accessible by dialing 211! You can check if your city has something similar.

i like these, but it's also worth noting that the suicide lifeline and crisis text line are great resources even if you're not in an emergency state! if you need someone to talk to, you can call or text, no barrier to entry.

I'm genuinely glad people are sharing crisis resources today but I wish we would also share non-crisis resources. Do those exist? For the people who need help but not at the level of emergency. I'm sure they must exist but I don't know what they are.

Like real talk, it takes WORK for me to even amp myself up to brush my teeth some days (and I don't always succeed). So I honestly can't even fathom trying to find someone who would work let alone the emotional effort needed to tell my parents/ask for rides there.

All the calls to get help is upsetting to me today?? I know it's meant well but it's just reminding me that no therapists that I know of near me take Medicaid and the idea of searching for one I can a) afford, b) isn't ableist, and c) is queer friendly is exhausting.

Especially sending love to those who need/want help and can't get it for whatever reasons. I know sometimes it's not as easy as reaching out. I see you. I love you. I'm so sorry you don't have access to the treatment you deserve.

I hate like 95% of the movie, but I dont think I've ever been more bisexual than in the Zac Efron/Zendaya song.

This is BEYOND not okay, . "Marred by an accessibility issue"? Are you kidding me? "A situation that became intolerable to her"? This whole paragraph is a prime example of using passive voice to undermine, blame, and arguably gaslight a disabled Black woman.

Re-reading 's PAIN WOMAN TAKES YOUR KEYS AND OTHER ESSAYS FROM A NERVOUS SYSTEM and am blown away again at the power and beauty of her words. Her command of metaphor is especially stunning. May I write with as much insight, compassion, and joyful precision.

Black and Indigenous folks experience disability at the highest rates. Disability may not be named or the identity has been erased + rewritten, but we have always been here. Thank you, .
