He did. Bruno Mars is a cool guy and his music is fun. But his lyrics and songs are not thought provoking.

Not necessarily. Art is also heavily dependant on the context of the piece since the beginning of the last Century with the birth of postmodernism,satire, shock humor and what not. While Kendrick deserved AOTY in 2016 and Bruno Mars didn't,technical abilities aren't theonlything.

We all know voters mostly vote for favorite, instead of most deserving.
