Curious. If police budgets are reduced drastically, whats to happen to the officers laid off, at a time of historical job losses? And these folks will be mad, and trained in the worst of anger management. Not a good picture, but reality.

Are you somehow trying to argue that it's a bad idea to reduce (abolish) police because then we should be scared of these people? These people that many citizens are already scared of, for good reason? Doesn't that kind of just prove the point that they should NOT exist?

There were 34,773 crimes reported through 5/31. Extrapolating that out gives roughly 83,455 crimes this year. Actual NYPD budget is ~$5.6 billion. That works out to $67,102 per crime.
