Are you kidding me??

Not even. It just happened today. One of my friends already lost his monetization. Every single channel that doesn't meet the new requirements, even if already monetized, gets instantly demonetized

This is seriously an issue. YT claims that monetized/demonetized videos will not be treated differently (logan paul *cough* *cough*). Yeah sure. This means I need to gain 590 more subscribers. But the real issue will be the viewtime.

Example my channel: you will need 240.000 minutes viewed. That is REALLY a lot for us. I have 56.789 in the last 365 days. 15.232 last month. Even if you hit 1k subs it will take months, until your viewtime reached this amount. If ever.

Fun fact: A lot of small channels will now buy subs and view time. This doesn't strengthen the community *at all*.

I don’t want to be forced to do that instead of gaining subs through good content.

Exactly. I'm only doing the giveaway to get to 100 subs right now

After consideration it might not be that bad. This might get rid of a lot of sub for sub channels. Which flood YT. This actually might be good for us, since there is more room to breathe. The people who buy subs and views will do / have done it anyway.

True. But it will also kill a lot of genuine channels with good content, because they don't believe it will be worth it anymore to strive for the goal of monetization

To be fair: You will not earn enough money with 1000 subs and 4000 hours view time to survive. You need a subsriber count in the six-figure amount regarding subscribers to be able to "live" from YT. And only if you're a single. Not talking about sustaining a family.

But on threat still remains: not get recommended by YT - because they don't make any profit of your videos. At all. They say that it doesn't affect you... but come on, they are a business and not your friendly neighbour ;)

Lol true. I'm still gonna keep doing it, I just know that it will discourage a lot of creators from either continuing on, or starting
