welp, i've finally gone off the deep end. i just discovered a matchmaking patent from Activision/Blizz that states that they retain small pieces of data (i.e. voicechat use, chat use, ragequitting) in conjunction with actual performance to put you in games with even chances
the matchmaking patent states that worse players are put on the same team as players more skilled than themselves to make games as even as possible. this is done to retain players, and according to the data in the patent, it works.
this would prove the existence of a "main account curse". the data is more accurate, so you're put in games that're more likely to have an even chance of winning, but if you're on a fresh account with fewer points of data, it's easier to go against the system.
i'm genuinely curious if i can prove this matchmaking system's implementation in Overwatch. anecdotal evidence points to this being the case, but it could also be attributed to nerves and things of the sort. i might make a fresh account to see if i can manipulate the system.
theoretically, if you make all lobbies as close as possible, you're more likely to get more skilled teammates, because the game would think you'd need them to keep the 50% winrate, whereas if you carry every game, you're gonna get shitters to maintain their winrate.

notice what Jeff denies. he only says all forms of chat influence nothing. he says nothing about winstreaks/loss streaks/ aspects of gameplay itself influencing the quality of your matches. this all but confirms my theory of there being a hidden "player quality" factor.
