Ok I won’t...geez!

Good. You don't wanna none of this science.
-
Science is only for the elite.
-
I know this is sarcasm, but thankfully
@Sci_Hub exists to account for the overwhelming majority of scientists who still genuinely believe this. Virtually all papers could be OA, but researchers stop that from happening. Because reasons. -
But is it really only the scientists fault? Journals have researchers write, submit and review papers for free, and then charge significant amounts extra for Open Access. It is certainly a good business model for them. The system is broken in several ways.
-
You are 100% correct here. But there is almost always a way to make your work OA for free through 'Green OA' or self-archiving. We made this little infographic to help researchers with this :) https://figshare.com/collections/How_to_make_your_work_100_Open_Access_for_free_and_legally_multi-lingual_/3943972 … HT
@figshare -
That is certainly a good resource, thank you :-)
-
Share it around, print it out and stick it in your department, and even feel free to translate it into another language if you can! :)

oh, you and your mind games...

I'm just trying to protect the poor publishers from this piracy that is destryoing their industry. I hear the CEO of Elsevier couldn't even get the Mark IV jet plane he wanted, and had to settle for the Mark III. It doesn't even have Bluetooth...
-
Ho-Ho. Except it’s not true. There are no corporate jets at Elsevier or its parent company.
-
Ahhh, it's a silly south park reference! Have you seen it?https://youtu.be/Af0wXeN6_FY

I WILL NOT try this.
-
Good. Or I'mma gonna sue you for trying to learn.
-
Not that I care, but a user of
@Sci_Hub is having trouble downloading articles from Journal of Neurophysiology (multiple tries, 3 different articles - they say). I feel bad for them, and wonder what the problem is. -
Sorry to hear this. I can't help them with that problem, but wondered if they'd also seen this reply in the thread? Perhaps you would like to pass on this info too, if appropriate:https://twitter.com/loicaroyer/status/1006029538973835264?s=19 …

Wow, that tweet escalated fast!
-
Yeah, that was unexpected, but had the desired impact I guess! Hopefully everyone listened carefully and made sure not to do anything..
-
I hope so. It's good to warn people... If ever you need a signal boost for such important warnings, ping me and I'll RT

Question, is there a benefit to using this method, which is NOT advisable, as opposed to going through the sci hub website, which is also NOT advisable?
-
Don't use either of them. The one I propose not to use is a bit faster, but that's about it.
-
Noted, thank you!
