24 white storks released in August have successfully migrated for winter - “Marge” even made it to Morocco! Public engagement has been fantastic, with many sightings reported and communities connecting with birds in their area

We had an update on GB8E on 9/01 and she is still feeding and living on the farm in the St Levan/Porthwara area. She has been named "Grace" by the owner of the farm and we have had this video of her feeding in the horse fields!

Now that GB8E's tag had stopped working, due to the battery draining in poor light conditions, we were relying on sightings to confirm her location. In Nov we had an email from a lady in the area who said GB8E had been on her farm near St Levan for a week or so

On 15th September, GB8E's GPS tag stopped sending data, however we continued to get many sightings of her through email reports and tweets. We had these photos from Simon Cook which confirmed it was GB8E

The white stork is a large bird in the stork family Ciconiidae. Its plumage is mainly white, with black on its wings. Adults have long red legs and long pointed red beaks, and measure on average 100–115 cm from beak tip to end of tail, with a 155–215 cm wingspan. 🎥 Natgeo

Describing white storks as “culture followers” a fascinating term for animals whose life is intimately tied to cultural landscapes and people. This is an interesting article about rewilding the Elbe Reserve in Germany and the migrating white stork population there
