Right or wrong, wise or not, the decision to send military equipment abroad is for a sovereign state to make. If you urge its senior ally to coerce it into changing its mind, that's a plea for informal empire. Which I don't oppose, but empire sometimes doesn't know itself.

This line could have used an editor: “‘They'll issue a rebuke of him for running as a complete liar in an effort to resuscitate the image of the party,’ said one person familiar with the pending announcement.” Who’s trying to resuscitate?

It’s being called Brazil’s “January 6 moment.” It was anticipated / feared in this short film we made last year. Part of US’s anti-democratic example?

All eyes need to be on Brazil right now. Democracy is completely under attack. Bolsonaro supporters are invading Congress, the presidential palace, and realms of power in Brazil. Unbelievable scenes.

Such a pleasure to speak with — and learn from — you, Rose . Friends, if you care about the “balance of terror” (i.e., US-Russia nuke posture) & want to know why a new nuclear arms race would be futile & counterproductive, listen to our new episode at link below!

Glad to speak with @EGFound’s @ProfessorHannah about the roots of U.S.-Russian nuclear relationship, its current impact on Russia’s unjust war against Ukraine, and the importance of pursuing novel technological capabilities for our future security. The president’s approach of limited support for Ukraine aligns w the limited nature of US interests in that war and, more crucially, is sensitive to the risks of catastrophic escalation. Wish some of my peers would be a bit more sensitive. time.com/6224376/public

We have let fear nuclear fear warp our policy towards Ukraine and towards the war - and we don't even know if it works. What if our caution emboldens Putin to escalate? What if our restraint makes him believe our commitment to Ukraine is weak? theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/

In Brazil, former president Lula beats incumbent Bolsonaro by 1.8% of the vote. Through the tight race, Bolsonaro suggested election was rigged. He's yet to concede. I was in Brazil earlier this year, and made this re: prospects of political violence.
