We do not need to give any more territory to the perversion of Christianity that the (white) Right calls biblical teaching. We don’t need to let them hijack the work of MLK (and Rev. Prathia Hall) and other womanists and Black liberation theologians. We ain’t scared.

The Black radical and social gospel represents the best of American left politics and it does so without ceding the language of values to those white supremacists who clearly have none.

The new world the left wants to build is a faith and values proposition. It requires love, faith, and hope as disciplinary practices (h/t
@MsPackyetti). The radical inclusive Black Church can help build this world, because we are experts in radical faith-hope propositions.Näytä tämä ketju -
Jeremiah Wright was right. America didn’t listen and if you don’t think Trump is our damnation, you ain’t paying attention. He is the Black prophetic tradition at its finest and I want Black leaders in this country who are accountable to the truths of that tradition. That is all.

It was, but I understand why he had to do it. He would not have become President had he not done it. Once he became President he should have reconciled. THAT’S the failure.

Big problem is for generations many on The Left willfully alienated Christians at large as innately stupid and morally hypocritical. Both sides reduce Jesus to their personal cheerleader. And Black Christians have suffered worst as our freedom fight has always been in faith.

He denounced him because he didn’t agree with him. Being honest should never be seen as a failure regardless of who the Rev is in the black community.

Yes but he wouldn’t had became President & I think we know that. Now AFTER he became President the situation between him & Rev. Wright could had been rectified; especially after his second term. But also keep in mind; Trinity & Rev. Moss was & still are FIRM supporters of Obama.
Kiitos. Käytämme tätä aikajanasi parantamiseen. KumoaKumoa

similar to Farrakhan - if he was genuinely associated with someone like Wright - he gets no white votes - ZERO Either you want a president with brown skin who gets white votes OR you don't want a brown-skinned friend of Wright who can't win natl election can't have both

Not true. Read some of the comments from white people appended to New York Times articles at the time. You will find many white people of all ages apologizing once they actually listened to some of Reverend Wright’s full sermons. Some people are capable of gleaning the truth.
