It is at least as as important to grasp and address what makes people worry about heritability, as it is to understand the complexity of the worked-out concepts used by biologists. Heritable is like unconscious (psych) merit (economics) and determined (physics)

Michi Nagatsu recommends ’s “How We Misunderstand Economics” as an introduction to the emerging field of folk economics, and I agree. Leiser and Shemesh’s book is great!

  17. Carbon taxes are easy. They feed right into our built in understanding of how the threat of punishment acts on motivation. Now try carbon emissions market... good luck. And you’ll see why the public rejects the latter, which legitimates bad behavior.

  18. This is an important thread, illustrating a broader psychological issue. Activists don't believe in tradeoffs. Good things go together, balancing goals is treason. Oppressed people are virtuous. It comes down to a unidimensional view of the world: good vs bad. A poor blueprint.

  19. So many mistakes and distortions in this piece, and missing bits. It is difficult to report about a foreign country if you don’t live there and don’t speak the language. How risky it is to rely on such sources to understand what’s what!
