Great article. I didn’t know there was evidence that the Howard quote is fake! But even if it isn’t, that kind of drafting history nonsense is the exact kind of stuff that a good conservative jurist should never rely on.

To be clear, it was altered. Howard did use those words but Anton added an (or) to change the meaning.

strict constructionism and originalism! The words are plain. Amen! Now apply this to the 2nd amendment as well. The plain reading; "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

"Well regulated militia" WOW! The 'original' words are powerful, even (especially) if frequently and conveniently omitted.

🤣arm chair constitutional scholars on twitter are funny! I'll defer to District of Columbia v. Heller. That decision held that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected with service in a militia

good time to refresh our understanding of the 14th amendment, anybody bother to explain “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” clause and the supreme court’s decision in the Slaughter-House Case of 1873?

the use of the example about a car acciden to explain jurisidiction is probalby not within what 14th amendments means, according to Sen. Trumbull and Sen. Howard

From my perch, here in South Africa, I am counting the days and holding my thumbs so tight for a swish and a roll and a swoop down of a blue colored wave, that will wash the shores of an already great USA and bring peace.

I have always loved America. Met so many great people during my 3 visits. My eldest son has an MBA from Cornell, and I was in The North Tower visiting associates one week before 911. The united spirit of that time is needed now.

This is just a distraction by DJT to drum up his base and draw attention away from pre-existing conditions, and tax cuts for the wealthy. We shouldn't take the bait.
