The pivot to video, IA, Discover, Apple News & whatever the next thing will be was never about the numbers; it was about FOMO. Traditional pubs (WP, NYT, WSJ) felt they lost to 2010s era HuffPost, Vox, BF because they were too risk adverse. As a result, ALL became overexposed.
