I don't think that Mary Astor, who took the fall in "The Maltese Falcon," is available to the Saudis. But you never know if they offer enough money.https://twitter.com/CarolLeonnig/status/1052318991195271168 …

NEW >>> Saudis are preparing for someone in their government to take the fall for Khashoggi's death -- in a way that doesn't tarnish the Crown Prince, diplomatic sources. @John_Hudson reporting.... https://twitter.com/John_Hudson/status/1052317425688043520 …

Mary Astor was guilty. Elmer took the fall. “One can always get another son, but there is only one Maltese Falcon.”

End of TCM plot summary: "Sam calls the police and turns them all in. Brigid admits that she shot Miles, hoping to implicate Thursby. Even though he is fascinated by her dangerous beauty, Sam turns Brigid in for the murder of his partner." I was right, it was Mary Astor.

She didn't take the fall--she WAS guilty. we are disagreeing about hoodlum slang, but always remember Spade's words, "the cheaper the crook the gaudier the patter!"

I can hear Bogart saying in the movie, "Sweetheart, you're taking the fall."

I think he said, “You killed Mikes and you’re going over for it.” As I recall, Elmer took the fall for the murder of the sea captain.

We're both right. Here's the dialogue that I remember: "Brigid: Don't, Sam. Don't say it even in fun. Ha, ha, ha. Oh, I was frightened for a minute. I really thought...You do such wild and unpredictable things. Spade: Don't be silly. You're taking the fall."
