I just found out that my cousin was shot and killed last night in a murder/suicide committed by her boyfriend. She has three kids under the age of 12. Domestic violence KILLS WOMEN. Does anyone fucking care?

  2. All this shit that went down today, RE: rapist apologists? This right here is why so many rape victims don’t come forward. They see how the general public treats other victims and decide it’s not worth the added misery.

And when the fuck are we supposed to talk about our experiences? Alive: You’ll ruin his career! Think of his family! Dead: He’s dead, he cannot defend himself! Well I’ve got news for this crowd: as long as the crime exists, so will our voices—whether they’re convenient or not.

  4. The way people go to the mat for celebrity rapists is disgusting, quite frankly. If they’ll fight this hard for a rapist they don’t even know, imagine what they’ll do when it’s someone they do know?

Imagine being a grown-ass man threatening a grown-ass woman for an interview she did ~17 years ago just because you deny something Kobe admitted to. ..........then following it up with supporting a notorious serial rapist. What in the fuck I know you're high, but are you high?

  6. A dead rapist is still a rapist, whether you talk about it or not. Trying to silence people discussing it just because the person is dead doesn’t undo it.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you about getting your hopes up. The system is working exactly as it was intended—to protect racist white men in power.

The thing about internally misogynistic women is that a lot of them are white. And they’re more interested in upholding their white privilege than they are in seeking equality with white men. They see white men as their protectors against racial equality.

This is making the rounds again. And people suck at reading comprehension. Read the last line. Allies don’t whine about exceptions. And that’s what makes them the exception.

To be clear, I don’t hate all men. I just hate men like this.

One of the most popular misconceptions about black history is that over time, America has gradually become less racist and more tolerant. That is not true. Since y'all want a BHM thread, here's a thread about the evolution of racism in America.

There is already a pandemic and it’s called domestic violence.

My aunt is with me on this “agenda.” Why should we let my cousin’s death be in vain when we could fight for change? p.s. if anyone is interested in helping victims of DV, pls donate to Sarah’s Inn. You can also raise awareness by tweeting under the hashtag

Men are just as emotionally driven as women (sometimes even more so), but they’ve been taught from a young age to hide those emotions. You’re lying to yourself if you truly think men don’t vote emotionally and always think rationally.

“People always say that I didn't give up my seat because I was tired, but that isn't true. I was not tired physically ... No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in.”- Rosa Parks Today we celebrate the 107th birthday of the Mother of the Civil Rights Movement 🕊️

Thinking about my grandmother today. She lost her battle to ovarian cancer a little over 15 years ago. She was the sweetest, most loving person I’ve ever known.

I have sympathy for all DV victims. But keep in mind that no one posts videos and long tweet threads crying and apologizing for siding with a woman’s abuser the way they have for Johnny Depp. Those people don’t care about the 3 women per day who are murdered by intimate partners.

Here’s my thing—when my cousin was murdered, I got a bunch of comments on twitter about how it was probably her fault and she was probably abusive and she probably deserved it. But y’all expect me to let you get away with saying DV victims who are women have it easier? Lmao

What happened to Johnny Depp was awful & I hope Heard faces consequences. But women don’t have it easier when it comes to being believed about DV. Marilyn Manson, Wesley Snipes, Charlie Sheen, & Mel Gibson all continued to work after being outed as abusers.

There's no racial justice without gender justice. During I think of the Black women before me who fought against the violence we endure at the intersections of race and gender.
