I’m a scientist but rarely take my work home. You don’t want to go home telling your family the world is screwed. My 13-year old daughter surprised me when she decided to go on - so I decided to interview her to find out why

Jet fuel on international flights isn’t taxed. This leaves little financial incentive for the industry to invest in big technological shifts. Explainer by , environmental sociologist.

science has made a huge difference. No longer are we predicting 5 deg warming as policies have slowed carbon emissions. Next challenge is to have policies to get to net zero by 2050. Given our past geopolitical success we could do it!

Petrol and diesel car sales ban brought forward to 2035 But should be 2025 or 2030 at the very latest. Needs clear policies beyond just banning to help people and companies adopt electric vehicles.

For what its worth, IS92-A is a bit above RCP6.0, which is in the range of outcomes consistent with current policies. We are far from bending down the curve though, which is whats needed to get to below-2C.

The RCP are not predictions they are scenarios of what could happen in the future. Hence there is no right or wrong. So your tweet is based on a false premise and therefore completely wrong. If decarbonise by 2050 & achieve 2.6 pathway will you cry climate science was wrong?
