"The NHS is planning a £10 billion cancer blitz amid warnings from the Chief Medical Officer that the "indirect effects" of the Covid pandemic are "as major" as the crisis itself." - The Telegraph. I'm hugely relieved to see the cancer crisis is being prioritised. Finally.

That is great news and finally a health secretary who is concentrating on other serious conditions.

Chris Whitty has said this from the very first press briefings. It was why he always said that the true health costs of the pandemic would not be known for years after the pandemic was over.

How it’s taken this long is beyond me. But let’s keep everything crossed that cancer gets everything thrown at it now. Things were already bad enough, but we have to get on top of the further crisis that has been created. #CatchUpWithCancer

I have had a tough time with NHS cancer care since switching from private care in March. A litany of errors on all my interactions. Clinical staff amazing and empathetic though. It really needs a deep patient led review
