I get it. Africana faculty tend to have an analysis of the problem, they are students & learning the intricacies of higher ed is a learning process. We are a visible group. I'm used to it and used to take these requests. 3/

But this has happened for years, while its more and more obvious that my whyte colleagues (& even other Faculty of Color) are rarely asked about these things, thus making the black Africana faculty weirdly responsible. 4/

What REALLY gets me is that I'm at a small liberal arts college connected to a Uni that is a major producer of PhDs. I have yet to see a single article asking (mostly whyte) heads of PhD programs how they are recruiting & nurturing the future professoriate. 5/

Also germane becuz this R1 also has final say in our tenure process. I am EXHAUSTED. Grateful that newer colleagues are taking more of these calls. But enough already. We are the shock absorbers for too much of academic diversity-which makes it hard to do our scholarship. finis/
