  8. Here is something that may be helpful to know about my grief. In general, February 3 is never a good day to throw something unexpected my way last minute. I am trying to survive on autopilot. Anything extra is a lot. That is all.

Today is the 25th anniversary of my mother's passing. If you see me today or this week on campus, I am probably fine, unless I'm not. But, if I'm not, I will be. I've been carrying this for 25 years. It is who I am, but being mindful & compassionate is, as always, appreciated.

“We teach English classes as if we should revere texts rather than critique them.” Something that took me by surprise when my friend said it, but I now realize why I dislike so many approaches to certain texts

Co-conspirator at work. I am often asked what white folks can "do." Here's an example. Share and use resources. Amplify the work of BIPOCs.

A1: Some suggestions: post visuals (GLSEN has some great free posters), remove unnecessary gendered language in communication, introduce ourselves with pronouns, provide flexible choices for facilities, include trans & non-binary representation in curricula!
