So strange that people would hate it. One can disagree with its methodology, conclusions drawn, but then should seek to replicate, extend, revise and see what the data show. Hate implies an anti-science attitude and value system being brought to bear on an empirical issue.

Congratulations,
@ProfDavidBuss! It is indeed a landmark paper, as reflected in the citation count, as well as its influence on subsequent research.Hvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi

Congrats David, a foundational paper for the field. To be a bit cheeky, it seems to have stood up to replications far better than the majority of psych findings in recent years!

Female preference for ambitious/industrious mates have led to today's male job culture, with a lot of competition & power-grabbing strategies. Women arevictims of their own making. Their mating choices in 1000s of years have led to competition at work that in turns excludes them

The first two papers that introduced to me to evo/psych were: “The Psychological Foundations of Culture” by Tooby & Cosmides, and this. Not a bad introduction at all

Has anyone repeated this recently? Lots of economic development in 30 years. Be interesting to see how it’s affected some of those stats.

I'm not a researcher, but I think not... Most found that women are more attracted by status and men by physical attractivness, but not the corrélation with gender equality. The firsts that come tout my mind are Eagly & Wood 1999, Kasser & Scharma 1999, Zentner & Mitura 2012.
