Jared, thus has jogged my memory of the very first time I played DnD. Partly because we fought what ended up being my favourite monster (the classic mindflayer) but also because we were the most incompetent adventurers in DnD history. I'd love to tell you that story someday

It IS a really hard choice, I feel like most DMs will have a different answer every year.

Do DnD have the gibbering mouther or is that just a pathfinder thing? Have only played pathfinder, I am not too sure, but that's my answer!

There was a monster in 3.5, I think it was called a brexit, which was an 8 foot tall intelligent psionic beetle-rhino-man that could also breathe ice and liked eating humans, purely out of spite

The Androsphinx/Gynosphinx are big favorites of mine since I use them as kind of big cinematic encounters that I don't expect my characters to necessarily fight through (which of course, they do).
