Also avoid generic statements that you'd hear from early AVGN clones. "Game was good. It had it problems but I liked it." Applies anywhere.

One of the first things I was taught was "write like you speak". If it sounds boring and out of character, you should probably rewrite.

But even then, I still have trouble with it. It gets easier with each review, but it's something to remember, and work on. For me anyway.
