Suppose that's fair, but they've had a precedent for trailers in their Direct, extensive gameplay in the Treehouse. Different expectations.

Why not WAIT until the end and just do videos on their OVERALL E3 announcements, instead of just the presentation?
-
Cause that wouldn't be as clickbaity.

I disagree, Jared. Nintendo's E3 is specifically structured to not give you the long gameplay segments you want during the conference.

I think that since Nintendos was Different, using the Treehouse time to show off then the conference itself, gives it a bit of leeway.

But a presentation works better as reveals and subtle tidbits, with more on the way then over doing and over hyping with live gameplay.

Agreed. Everyone always tries to defend Nintendo to the fullest, but will think poorly of other conferences for doing the same thing.

If every company is having gameplay at E3, then why would it matter so much if the presentation shows it or not?

This is fair, a lot of people tune in to the presentations only to see what the companies are showing off.

Treehouse is different than just showfloor though, it's still presentation + announcements being livestreamed.

That's fair. I feel like its hard to compare Nintendo to the others because their format is a little different.

Exactly. People don't want to sift through coverage videos to see gameplay. It should be in their conference.
-
I dunno man. I don't like when conferences drag on for too long either. Microsoft was guilty of that this year
-
It's about balance. There needs to be gameplay, but they can't drag it out & show too much.

Grading the Nintendo press conference without considering the Treehouse event is pretty much redundant.

Sony had a whole pre-show showing off gameplay too
-
But Sony's pre-show only included games not shown in the conference (apart from GT sport)...
