GameFreak has not done any big surprise promo stuff in a long time and I don't expect to see any Gen 8 stuff until around 3 months before it comes out. Assuming it is an October/November release that means this is way too early.

A true co-op mode. Each person, their own six, just co-existing and adventuring through the world together. Doesn't have to be constant 2v2 battles, but just to go through the adventure alongside a friend.
