Honestly Gen 6 might be a bit worse than 1 only cus Gen 6 SHOULD have had more of a postgame/ second installment whereas in the Gen 1 remakes there was an actual post game. Still salty about Gen 6 not getting another game

I was a gen 1er for about 15 years. Then i played pokemon white and pokemon y. In hindsight, gen 1 was a marvel for its time and a solid idea for the series. The creative decisions made in subsequent gens definitely improve the experience

I always say no gen of pokemon is bad, but in terms of DISLIKING a gen... Well, sorry gen IV fans, but diamond and pearl were my least favorite XD

Psychic types were OP. Wrap and fire spin were broken. No running shoes. The Pokémon art was ugly as sin before Yellow version. 2nd gen fixed a ton of problems.

I feel I could write a book on why I agree that Gen 1 is the worst. For everything that future installments mess up, there are 3-5 things wrong with the original. I love every Pokemon game, sometimes with nostalgia glasses, but change is not inherently a bad thing.

For me, the Gen 1 love is more about the pokémon themselves rather than the full play experience. Clearly, every generation has subsequently improved the play experience in some way, but a large percentage of my favorite pokémon are from the original games.
