Uhm competitive D&D 1. Multiple groups do the same campaign and compete to complete it faster 2. Players make a character and those characters are dropped into an area from airships and must fight to the death collecting loot as they go

It means that they don’t want to deal with the concussions that would arise from D&D sports.

How do you even do it competitively? Like I could understand trying to cultivate personalities to play then doing like All Star Events which is maybe what they’re going for?

Well... Back in the day at conventions they'd make modules to hand out to a room of 30 tables of players, and whoever beat the adventure first got prizes. Tomb of Horrors came from the players saying the modules were too easy.
