If William Barr’s "campaign is successful, the communications of billions will remain frozen in a state of permanent insecurity: users will be vulnerable by design," writes @Snowden in @guardianopinionhttps://nyti.ms/2MkRc7r

Barr and trump believe in old-school documents and communication via human couriers. Something the rich can afford, but most others can not. While being able to snoop on what others are doing. They have no care if it goes wrong. They are last century's representatives.

If it's a weapon, why isn't it protected under the 2nd Amendment? Why do Texans get to carry AR15s but I can't use @signalapp ?

IMO,FB is just making a fake resistance to the gov't with which they've always quietly cooperated. People may not consider present gov't an immediate threat, but consider the future is unknown &overall historical trends have been against the rights&freedoms of us common folk/plebs

We can be frozen? As in NOT be continually less secure? Sounds like a best case

If it's any comfort, @Snowden, there's an outside chance Barr sees the inside of a jail cell before you do.

“It is striking that when a company as potentially dangerous as Facebook appears to be at least publicly willing to implement technology that makes users safer by limiting its own power, it is the US government that cries foul. “

Anonymity matters in a free society. the U.N. recognizes the Right to Privacy (Article 12, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights). One of the foundations of a democratic society is the right to privacy. The Trump administration wants to upend it.
