Your DNA exposes relatives you’ve never met and even future generations of your family. Legitimate consent to the use of an entire family tree should involve more than just a single person clicking “yes", writes @elizabeth_joh in @nytopinionhttps://nyti.ms/2I8aKcT

Think there should be a link to your article on the website's authorization page. Some may change their mind after they read the possibilities.

Exactly! "We want all citizens to wear a tracking device that also gives us access to everything you do online." Citizens "BOG OFF!!" "Look,a pretty smartphone (imbedded with these capabilities ). $1,000" Citizens " I want one" Now we are paying them to have a DNA database on us?

I am so happy to see the recent cold cases solved by the use of this new investigative tool . Some of the most heinous suspects have now been apprehended with more to come . Great work to all that initially invented this .

I think many countries have had public records available with this data for some centuries. I did 8 generations of my family tree with that data before internet was popular at all. Genealogy data is not our data to decide on. It's public information.

🧬 This would be nice. I used DNA to find my biological family. But I’d hate to have it used against anyone.

I’m good with it. Find a murderer/rapist in my tree, hold them accountable. Give those families justice and some closure (if that’s even possible). Teens who choke out elderly people should be found before they escalate to, idk, perhaps taking the life of your loved one.

Science and technology are becoming so advanced that a person can't even commit a crime anymore without law enforcement knowing exactly who was responsible. What is happening to the once corrupt and unjust world we so loved.
