  Why does @nytimes publish misleading op-eds? That's not balanced journalism; it's bad journalism. If "Used properly [facial rec] software effectively identifies crime suspects without violating rights." Tech can't accurately ID faces of color! Guess @NYPDONeill doesn't count that

  it's injustice to use THIS 20th century technology: facial recognition is fundamentally flawed, giving false positives excessively on dark-skinned people. Using it will guarantee civil rights abuses by police @nypdoneill

  Furthermore @nypdoneill : the need to identify criminal activity can NOT belong solely to police. Police fundamentally are flawed, systemically racist & violent in a way that undermines justice. Non-police must have full equal access to all surveillance & biometric ID systems
