Simply saying that privacy infringements seem “creepy” or “scary” should not justify regulating all of them, writes Heidi Messerhttps://nyti.ms/2VZK6LN

with respect, there’s so much fabulous writing on a zillion different privacy topics and as many thoughtful privacy scholars itching to write about them for this project— it’s a bummer to see what reads like a tech industry association pamphlet being published instead.

This really should be labeled “sponsored content.” Do better.

what an amateurish slander on the armies of actual lawyers building compelling, research-based arguments for regulation. now do "convenience" and "disruption", the only justifications anyone seems to offer for infringing privacy and ethics on a global scale

I'm not worried really concerned with privacy (my browser is clean), it's the free training that I provide to robots unwittingly and on a daily basis. Not a fair exchange for using these shitty apps.

Why are you publishing anti-privacy pieces written by people who hate the concept?

What a miss, eds. There are plenty of thoughtful and educated opinions out there opposing regulation. Instead, you publish (another) shilly piece rife with errors. Good thing @mikiebarb depends on NYT subs for support, else I'd have canceled mine over these op-eds.

@FTC maybe some of these should be labeled as an advertisement, under section 5? #UDAP #Privacy is too important to offer #miseducation thereon. Poor privacy practices spend the limited resources of the #FTC plus other organizations. #IDTheft #cybercrime cc:@EPICprivacy
