Full disc- I am a past Strategy and Product Exec in a major imagining and recognition (the N. co.). Storing content without personal identifiable IDs causes no harm to privacy. It's like hearing a voice in a busy restaurant without seeing who! But storing and sharing IDs does.

We have to focus and be very clear about practices that involve sharing (authorized or unauthorized) content coupled with ID, otherwise, we are really fear-mongering which ultimately results in loss of credibility. Tech companies need standard on proper privacy-centric ID storage
