Traffic cameras, police body cams, facial recognition, surveillance cameras, fingerprint & iris scanners, data collection, location & time data, website cookies & trackers, shopping rewards cards, robo calls, electronic payments these aren’t singular to the Chinese.

I have been following the articles in the Privacy Privacy. We need to look in the mirror. We are creating our own dystopian by chasing tech wealth. Chinese may have different funding and purpose, but in the end we are following the same path because we can’t help ourselves.

Many US companies are pushing us toward the same future. Why? Because they fear Chinese technology will leapfrog them and so in a rush to keep up with mindless competition they follow suit. Investors carelessly provide capital because they see “first mover” advantages and $$.

Greed is making the US follow the same path as China. Surveillance cameras on every corner? That started years ago by a company that saw traffic cameras as a way to make $$, started selling to local governments across the country. Body cameras on police has followed the same way.
