We scrolled through 30,000 attributes used by advertisers – from "people trying to lose weight" to "people near an IHOP" – and bought seven ads to understand this invisible part of the Internet. https://nyti.ms/2ZOoiB0 pic.twitter.com/ObFC6ILOTf

Amazing along w/concerning. When these same data points are used beyond targeting there’s direct impact. Impact, one can assume, results in further assumptions based on false conclusions. #whenassumptionbecomesfact #accuracyofdata #datause #impactofdata #AI

It's not clear to me whether the ads I saw embedded in the story were supposed to be targeted at me or just examples of targeted ads. If they were supposed to be targeted then I'm pleased because it got a lot wrong about me!
