Tip: highlight images missing alt text with img:not([alt])

Using img:not([alt]) to highlight images missing alt text. You can also use Lighthouse or editor plugins to detect the same.

It’s okay to admit when you don’t know something. One of the most important skills in software is being able to find answers and learn from them.

I haven't written about why Vue is good for a long time, partly because we are somewhat already considered "mainstream". But I honestly believe Vue 3 is going to be the most well-rounded framework out there.

A risky dev team mindset: "We're too busy to do code reviews." Without reviews, consistently, velocity, and quality fall. Skipping code reviews makes the team a faster today, in exchange for being slower tomorrow.

In longer switch statements, I occasionally do: switch (value) { case 1: { ··· break; } case 2: { ··· break; } } Benefit: each case can declare its own variables, without having to worry about name clashes.

Lousy variable name: data It says nothing about what's inside. It's surprising how often I see this in code. It's especially problematic in dynamic languages like , because there's no type system to lean on. A good variable name helps me understand at a glance.

Someone else’s old code is never as easy -or- as scary as I imagine it to be at first. To me, the key is to read the PRs that added it. That makes the pieces fall into place.

Ever annoyed by the long list of local Git branches that are no longer relevant? Solution: git remote prune origin That removes all local branches that have been deleted from remote (typically GitHub) Add --dry-run to merely see a list first to confirm.

Here’s my take on UI as pure functions vs. embracing the mutability of the DOM… No one gives a shit. People use what’s easy to adopt and makes them feel productive. Everything else is a mythology you build up around your project to make its success seem more profound than that.
