1. The high percentage of border patrol agents' kids aren't white. What you call kid jails have been around for almost 20 years and no one cared until now. Kids are separated and put into foster care or homes when their parents break the law all the time.

2. Separating kids from law-breakers at the border was started to protect them. There's a high rate of kidnapping and human trafficking at the border. People need to establish if the kids even belong to the people smuggling them illegally out of a country.
