if anyone is good with microphones and getting keyboard clicking noises out of the background, help would be appreciated. no matter how i play with the noise gate levels i cant get my voice to pick up without the keys :/

Diaphragm facing you, good proximity to face, is your gain set properly? Key clicks should be quiet with your setup, but not silent. If your gain is too high though then they may be shrill. Keyboard orings are a great option too.
