This really is the only thing Trump done in two years that wasn't transparently self-serving. ...and I wonder what will shake out of this in the long run.

Doubt that Trump has strong feelings either way on this issue. Someone probably told him it would look good for him politically since it had support from both parties. Real work was done by Senate, so obviously Trump takes credit.
