In accordance with his statement yesterday, President Rivlin received a request before midnight on Monday 13 April from Chairman of Kachol Lavan, Benny Gantz MK, to extend the period of time allocated to him to form a government.
The request was made as required by the president, with the support of both sides and on the understanding that they are close to reaching an agreement. The time for forming a government will be extended and will now expire on Wednesday 16 April at midnight.
The real question is: Why not to close the office of the presidency, which costs to the state of Israel millions of dollars and absolutely useless and formed a senate which would be more useful ?
