Don't ignore this stat. You need to understand if Trump is popular in one way or another, so you can figure out how to beat him. Figuring out why so many people are showing up to a primary he already owns isn't a bad place to start.

Not really. Sure, Bill Weld was there, but he never had a serious shot. I think the same logic largely applies to the other candidates in this stat.

What’s the share of the vote by non-incumbent nominees in those primaries?

85% of the vote roughly was the record, I think Reagan still holds the % record. Obama has 80% in 2012. I think trump had 84% yesterday.
