I wish I worked with more moms with young children. Most days it feels like a lonely struggle.

The news business is unfair to journalists without children, too. Is it fair to make the child-free work weekends and nights?

I'm in sales. Welcome to my world...nights, weekends, holidays-whatever it takes to win. My kids grew up fine-grateful for my hard work.
-
What did your wife do JR? Did she have a steady, predictable schedule, or one like yours? It makes a difference.
-
She taught school...parochial school. More predictable than mine, but lots of nights, weekends, etc too. We made it work as best we could
-
Could you do it if she were in journalism too? Probably not- teaching is a good choice for a parent who is primary go-to for kids
-
I wish you all the best in working out this challenge. Your history of success suggests that you'll find a way. :)

I disagree. Because I am a journalist, my son is probably only 5 year old to have attended city/ county board meetings, taken pics at jail.

So you want the same thing as your hard working colleagues, you just don't to work hard for it, i.e., Marxism

Agreed. News should only happen at the convenience of journalists.
