Thanks to all new followers who helped get the People out of the Middle Ages. We’ve seen that they don’t call them ‘dark ages’ for no reason. Stay tuned as the history of the Jews keeps unfolding throughout modern times.....

My family is from Cuba and many of us have had the tradition that we are Jews that left the Canary Islands. One of the biggest tell all signs of who we are is the family rule: "we eat no pork".

In the years after 1492, some 200K were forced out of Spain. But many also stayed and became “New Christians”. For centuries, Spain was until the expulsion edict was officially cancelled in 1869. Today there are around 13,000 Jews living in Spain.

The Expelled Spanish Jews used to be mostly urban, so they preferred cities. Most settled in the “4 holy cities” - Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and Tiberias. Many also, believe it or not - in . In Jerusalem, the western wall was declared by sultan Süleyman as a holy Jewish site.

Where did all the Jews go? Well, many to Portugal which was geographically and culturally close. But...in 1497 the expulsion edict came into effect over there too. Bad luck. Some fled to France, Belgium and Holland. Finally, most fled east - to the young n rising Ottoman Empire.

What makes 1492 special is that this expulsion was an official edict issued by the Monarchs of Spain, basically aiming to eliminate any presence in Spain. Here’s s copy of the edict of expulsion, signed by Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon.

So how many were expelled in 1492 from ? Estimates are between 40K to 160K, when in fact most Spanish Jews chose ‘option B’ - conversion to Christianity instead of expulsion. Forced expulsion of Jews from Spain began already in 1391. In the picture - a Jew in Spain.

A question for Mahmoud Abbas on the occasion of his ’s 54th anniversary: That whole “two state solution” thing, is Israel one of those “two states”? Coz for some reason it’s not on any of your new festive logos...

Context: permits 1000s of Palestinian to cross border in order to work in . Each one must be pass security check to prevent terror. If Pals had invested in economy and jobs, instead of 70 yrs of terror & corruption, they wouldn't need to cross border to work.

This is the reason the Israeli Defense Forces IS the most moral army in the world: not because it fights with flowers (it doesn't), not because Jews have a unique moral DNA (no people does), but because the IDF is forced to carry out its missions under unparalleled scrutiny:

Not Jewish. Never been to . Never seen Ivanhoe. Never read a single book by No big fan of falafel. Don't like most of Israeli music... Can't stop standing up for Israel and against antisemitism though... It's the right thing to do.

Happens that I’ve reached 1,485 followers AND I’m at Ronda RIGHT NOW! Ronda was under rule from 713 until occupied by the Christians in 1485! The population of Ronda, then capital of the Caliphate of Córdoba, was expelled that year by the conquerors.
