Defiance! Probably season 1-2ish if you want some comfy SyFy channel viewing. Season 3 felt like the budget disappeared before it ended. :s

I haven't watched enough GoT to compare, but I loved it. They did a great job with makeup and practical effects with all kinds of alien themes.
