My FAQ on COVID19 in classrooms: http://poppendieck.com/IAQ/COVID19%20FAQ.html … Including: -Do portable HEPA air cleaners remove the virus from the air? -Won't a portable air filter just move the air with contaminated aerosols around to infect more people? -Where should I put it in the classroom?

Most portable air filters/cleaners are passive. None of them offer real time protection from aerosolised virus and no protection whatsoever from surface contamination. What schools need is real time protection the moment the virus is released into the air. Only active does that.

HEPA purifiers are very noisy and expensive to run. In addition they block and store pathogens so if not changed regularly they can become a reservoir for infection spread. A far better solution that requires no filter is a good quality UVC based uni Investigate upper room #UVGI

How do you suggest getting around dwell time issues with UVC in HVAC? Airborne virus is much trickier than bacteria on coils.

Thanks so much for these FAQ’s. I was wondering about these very questions.

Maybe can elaborate on how often (probably not very often) filters need to be changed, before people start changing every day or so.

I’m a dental hygienist with identical working space as many educators: unknown airflow and less than desirable ventilation , unable to open windows, I must work indoors, highly aerosolized environment. I also wear layers of PPE while communicating verbally to our patients.
