The Borough of Poole has been given £2.7mn by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This will fund a number of improvements to Poole Park. See Poole Park Life updates here

    The main entrances of Poole Park are highlighted by ornamental gate pillars with Eagles on top and terracotta panels including fish, seaweed and scallop shell details. The Gate Pillars were sympathetically cleaned and pointed during conservation works in 2018.

    The water bodies in themselves creating open views and memories in terms of recreation and interaction with wildlife. The Victorians knew what they were doing when they utilised the water bodies to help support the health & well being of park visitors!

    Today marks day! We are celebrating what we value across our parks. This includes the War Memorial in Poole Park which was renovated in 2018 using National Heritage Lottery Funding. The memorial plays a key role in Poole’s heritage.

    Did you know the best food to feed Poole Park's wildlife is peas, lettuce, porridge oats, and poultry feed? Not only is it healthier for the swans and geese, but it helps improve the water quality of the lakes and lagoons too.

    Call for bird photos! We are completing a new Bird ID sign for Poole Park & need some photos of birds in the park. If you have clear high res photos of Cormorant, Black-Headed Gull, Black Backed Gull, male/female Mallards or Coot, please let us know! Credit will be given!

    Poole Park has been busy with students from Bournemouth and Poole college in the last month. Students litter picked, weeded, completed the Quiet Garden's bug hotel, and made a directional signpost with the names and distances of the countries they have travelled from.

    I took some photos of the Rose Garden this morning which may be used on a new interpretation sign. The Rose Garden is looking great and is a good example of combination planting. Please make a visit next time you are in the park, it will be worth it!

    When feeding the birds, please feed small amounts, small handfuls at a time. This prevents fighting amongst the birds and avoids any food being left over. If you do feed the birds bread, please ensure it is fresh and then only give very small amounts.
