wait, so a month later you're saying the game is actually bad? sure there's not a whole lot of power progression in the traditional sense, but what's wrong with doing things a bit differently? it's about the story after all, which is the entire point

It's quite an accurate read, especially how weapons don't feel markedly different from each other even though you go through a ton of story to get to them. I've had a problem staying engaged with it despite it being a masterpiece, so I think a critical eye on it is fine.

What if it has an inverse power curve for very obvious, very spoilery thematic purposes?

Or at least kind of nudges in that direction.

Yeah. The point of the story is that we are witnessing the end one man's story and the beginning of anothers. Online has a tremendously steep power curve by the looks of things. That's what they want you playing for 5 yrs.

I disagree with this completely. The whole theme of RDR2 is that you are just a man trying to make the best of it, in a world that is much bigger and badder than you’ll ever be. Being grounded in reality and the lack of a major power curve is what makes the game so successful.
