My bookshelf is littered with Prima guides, for games I haven’t even touched (thanks to a brother that managed the local GameStop). I don’t keep them for their guidance, but for their aesthetic. Each one beautifully archives a time, a feeling, an era. RIP Prima: you’ll be missed.

We are the same way. The guides are so much more than a helpful walkthrough, and quite frankly, I don't think anything could ever replace a book for me.
